The Singapore airport is a hub for many international and local flights, which makes it an ideal place to meet business partners or friends traveling from abroad. 1. Visit Historical Sites at Changi Airport
The Singapore Changi Airport has its fair share of secrets and hidden gems, such as its historical WWII murals located along the corridors leading to Terminal 3 (T3). Commissioned by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and painted by local artists Alfian Sa’at and Tan Peng, these colorful paintings depict various significant events in Singapore’s history.
Hidden away within Terminal 3 is the Changi Chapel and Museum, where you can find out more about this iconic airport whilst enjoying its beautiful architecture. The museum also houses the original control tower equipment used when T3 was first opened to air traffic in 1981.
2. See Swimmers Swim Underwater at Underwater World
Did you know that there is an aquarium located right under the airport? It’s called Underwater World, which is part of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS). At a massive 42,000 square meters large, it is one of the largest oceanariums not only in Asia but in the world! This impressive aquarium features many species of sea animals such as turtles and rays – but it also has one of the largest collections of sharks in Asia. At Underwater World, there are 8 different species of shark found, including the whale shark – which can grow up to 12 meters long.
3. Explore Wildlife at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
Located just half an hour away from Changi Airport is the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. This reserve plays host to various bird species that migrate across Asia during winter every year. There are over 270 species of birds that have been spotted here – what’s more interesting is that you can actually get up close and personal with these creatures as they float along without a care in the world
4. Find Out How Planes are at Singapore Flyer or Take a Stroll at Marina Bay Sands
No trip to Singapore is complete without taking a ride on the Singapore Flyer – the world’s largest observation wheel! There are various sights to behold whilst atop this high-up structure, but all you have to do is step on board for 30 minutes and enjoy the ride. Other than that, there’s also plenty of shopping malls located near the airport – one of them being Marina Bay Sands.
