In these times, night excursions and night shooting events are becoming a trend. Therefore, if someone is looking forward to participating in it, they need to have a good knowledge of night vision optics.

Here are a few things that you need to keep in mind while buying a night vision optic.

Categories of Night Vision Optics

Night vision optics are broadly categorized into three types. Moreover, you can easily buy all these kinds of optics at www.agmglobalvision.com. A brief description of all these types is as follows.

Night Vision With Image Intensifier

If you have a low budget, this kind of night optics is most suitable for you. Equipped with advanced Image Intensifier tubes, this optics functions flawlessly in low light conditions. Moreover, this night vision optic can intensify the image up to 30,000 times its original brightness.

This device is ideal for covert operation as it does not have an IR illuminator that can shine and expose your position. However, the image intensification capacity varies according to the generation of the night vision optic.

The only disadvantage this kind of optic has is that it requires at least a small amount of light to function properly. Moreover, this optic can incur serious damages if it is exposed to bright light.

Night Vision With IR Illuminators

Equipped with CMOS sensors these devices are sensitive to infrared light. Unlike Image Intensified, Night Vision which has the ability to intensify the image manifolds, this category of night vision device uses IR illuminators.

An IR illuminator functions like a torch but in the light range, which is impossible for humans to track. These kinds of devices are very cheap and are suitable for people who want to use their night vision optics for hunting wild animals. Moreover, these kinds of optics don’t get damaged in bright light.

However, these kinds of optics also have a lot of limitations. The range of these night vision sights is directly proportional to the distance to which the IR illuminator can emit its light. Moreover, these optics are not suitable for tactical missions as these devices shine in the dark and can easily expose your position.

Thermal Vision Optic

Thermal vision optics is the premium category of night vision optics. As we know, almost every living object on the earth emits a substantial amount of heat or infrared radiation. And these devices, using Microbolometer Focal Plane Array, detect these heat patterns of various objects and reflect an image of them on the screen.

Moreover, these optics are ideal for spotting any moving objects and also do not require any light or IR illuminators to operate in the dark. However, these devices, which are very convenient to use at all times, are very expensive.

Therefore, if you are planning to buy one, ensure that you have a lot of savings to spend on such devices.

Types of Night Vision Devices

Several devices are fitted with night vision optics; some of them are as follows.

Binoculars

The most commonly used night vision device is a night vision binocular. This device has the ability to magnify the image of a distant object and produce a clear image at night.

Night Vision Goggles

People who go to explore places at night mostly prefer to carry night vision goggles with them. These glasses will allow you to clearly see objects in the dark.

Scope

People who frequently go on shooting trips need to have a scope that can be used both day and night. A night vision scope allows you to trace and shoot targets in the dark.
